Most Russians are still ready to vote for President Vladimir Putin, as indicated by a recent poll of the Levada Center: 83 percent of those, who are ready to go to voting polls now and made their decisions, would support the candidacy of the current Russian leader, if the elections were to take place this Sunday. This indicates that the exacerbation of the economic crisis failed to affect Putin’s approval ranking.

Russia Direct interviewed Stanford University's Kathryn Stoner, Levada Analytical Center's Alexey Levinson, the University of Arizona's John Pat Willerton, to understand why the approval rankings of Russian President Vladimir Putin is still so high despite the increasing economic crisis.
