The Ministerial Meeting of relevant agencies from 87 countries was organized by the secretariat of the IEF jointly with the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.

The 14th Ministerial Meeting of the IEF, which had as its main theme “The New Geography of Energy and the Future of Global Energy Security,” became a unique platform for interactive dialogue and the exchange of views by ministers from various countries and heads of the world's leading energy companies.

The International Energy Forum (IEF) was established in 1991 as an informal international organization with headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The IEF is an independent institute of global energy policy  designed to facilitate global dialogue between energy consumers and producers.

The Russian Federation’s activities in the IEF have as their goal the development of strategic cooperation with major producers and consumers of energy resources, including the Persian Gulf countries, as well as coordination of activities in the global energy market.
