Jerry Byers is currently finishing his MA in Eurasian Energy and Politics at the European University in St. Petersburg. His thesis is on energy efficiency strategies and policies for the Russian Federation. Following graduation in January 2016, he plans to live and work in St. Petersburg. He studied at Cornell College and received a BA in both Russian Studies and International Relations. He also holds an AAT (Associates Degree in Teaching) from Longview College. He has traveled extensively in Russia including the Russian Far East, the Urals, and Rostov region over the past several years. In addition, he is an active volunteer with a number of groups in St. Petersburg promoting educational and cultural exchanges and language improvement between Russians and Westerners.
